CEU’s access to our Elsevier subscription package of current e-journals (2013—present) and most journals between 1995-2012, as well as the Scopus database were terminated as of 11 January 2019. No further negotiations are planned at this time by our Hungarian Academy Consortium through which CEU’s subscription has been procured for many years with generous government subsidy.
Hungary joins Germany, Sweden, Peru, Taiwan and a larger number of individual universities who have reached similar impasses because of inflated pricing and other unfavorable publisher terms. Austria, Switzerland, and France are attempting similar negotiations.
CEU retains access to this Elsevier content:
electronic backfiles of 1,687 Elsevier journals published from 1823-1994 because they were purchased; 46 of these titles continue through 2012
individual articles in over 1,850 hybrid e-journals when article processing charges (APCs) were paid by an author, funder, or institution
