Finding Journal Articles

Introduction

The CEU Library provides access to over 52,000 thousand journals, but we don't have every article that you might need for your research.

Begin your search using our library tools, such as Global Search, Databases A-Z, or E-journals & E-books. Be sure to use the CEU VPN.

If you find an article that asks you to pay, as in this example:
purchase for $35.95

...try using the tools listed below to find open access (freely available) articles.

Depending on where you search, an article might be:

  • the final published version
  • an accepted manuscript - peer reviewed, but without final formatting
  • a preprint - manuscript prior to peer review.

Browser extensions for open access content

Open Access Button
Search for open access articles directly on https://openaccessbutton.org or download an extension for Chrome, Safari, or Firefox. You will be directed only to legally available copies of articles.

Unpaywall
Find open access articles easily by installing a plug-in on Chrome or Firefox. If there are free versions of the article, the green tab icon will appear in your browser with a direct link to the full-text article.

CEU Library also integrates Unpaywall in the CEU Library's findit@CEULibrary service available when using Global Search with the CEU VPN.
